If Things Were Different

 If Things Were Different"

If things were different, I’d still be yours,

We’d never have locked these closing doors.

It wasn’t love that broke our way —

It was the world, too cruel to stay.

I didn’t stop loving you — not even close.

You’re still the one my heart needs most.

But timing, fate, or what life became

Turned all our fire into quiet flame.

We held on tight, but life held tighter,

Every step grew heavier, never lighter.

So here I stand, not turning cold —

Just letting go of what I can’t hold.

It hurts in ways I can’t explain,

To walk through love and still feel pain.

To know I’d choose you every time,

In a world that never made you mine.

I never wanted it to end like this,

No final fight, no last sweet kiss.

Just silence thick with all we knew,

And a heart that still beats just for you.

So if you ever doubt what we were,

Know this truth will never blur:

No one will ever take your place —

You were my home, my heart, my grace.

I’m walking away, not out of spite,

But because love sometimes loses to life.

Still, if things were different, you’d see —

We’d still be us… you'd still have me.
